Krewe Match Report - 4-25-09
New Orleans traveled to Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia for the South Rugby Championships.  On a very hot day,  New Orleans dropped a must win game to the Bay Area Rugby Krewe, 26-10.  The halftime score was 14-3.   New Orleans started strong and took a 3-0 lead after much go forward ball.  But then a few errors lead to soft tries for the Krewe, and NORFC faced a 14-3 deficit.  Another try for the Krewe put the score at 19-3 in the 2nd half.  New Orleans started a vertical attack with some good forward punches, capped off with a Robob Negulescu dive over the line to narrow the gap to 19-10.  New Orleans would get no closer, however, as the Krewe #9 intercepted an errant pass and sprinted to the line for another converted try.

The 2009 season comes to a disappointing end for NORFC.  This season, NORFC repeated as Deep South champs, but could not match the playoff success of last season.

Good luck to Baton Rouge RFC who beat Jacksonville 24-17 on Saturday to take the South #2 seed in the National Playoffs.  They will meet the Midwest #1 seed.
